THE BENEFITS
KURO-Bō has harnessed an incredible and innovative ancient natural water filtration system used for centuries in Japan, that is unlike any modern filter available today in terms of its additional health benefits.
All scientifically proven in a specialist water laboratory (see The Science).
Essentially mother nature’s own toxin magnet, KURO-Bō filters are made of pure activated charcoal that is scientifically proven to:
- Purify * (removes heavy metals/chemicals)
- Mineralise * (adds minerals, e.g., Mg, Ca)
- Improve taste and odour (removes Chlorine)
- Remove bacteria * (E. coli)
- Balances an acidic pH *
Sounds too good to be true? Well, actually it isn’t...

To demonstrate this, we decided to do a little exercise in costing. We took a leading-brand water filter*, bottled water from a well-known country-wide supermarket chain and compared costs litre-for-litre with the KURO-Bō water filter system. And we made an interesting discovery!
When comparing actual costs, it turns out that even when it comes to just monetary value, KURO-Bō is one of the most cost-effective water filtering systems around. **
But the real revelation is when you look at costs to our environment. It should be, obvious that what you choose to spend your money on has a cost far beyond just the purchase price. Whether you choose to keep contributing to the ever-growing plasticonomy or not, whatever you decide will be part of the ripple effect that will have far-reaching consequences for our planet’s future.
Next time you buy something from the supermarket, ask yourself ‘what is the true cost of this thing that I’m buying?’ It’s likely to be a lot more than just what you’re paying for it.
*We used the price-competitive Takealot website (South Africa, 2019). We did not include the cost of the brand-exclusive jug in our calculations, only the filters.
** The yield on the KURO-Bō charcoal filters depends on the quality of water used.
The Zero Waste movement is changing the course of eco-history, gaining momentum right around the world, and raising awareness about the impact our living and consumption choices are making on the earth.
Zero Waste is all about choosing to follow a sustainable and single-use plastic-free (or much reduced) lifestyle when purchasing, creating, consuming, and disposing of products: always choosing sustainable products that don’t negatively affect the environment and end up in a landfill.
KURO-Bō Charcoal Water Filters are made by nature, packaged in nature and recyclable back to nature. A beautiful zero-waste cycle.
REUSABLE - The longest lasting single natural water filter on the market, KURO-Bō is reusable for between 3-6 months. If your water still tastes great, just keep reactivating each month!
